Blue Coat CE Infant and Junior School’s Federation is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to the following websites, which are run by Blue Coat CE Infant School and Blue Coat CE Junior School, supported by FSE Design:

https://www.bluecoatfederation.co.uk/

https://www.bluecoatfederation.co.uk/blue-coat-c-e-infant-school/

https://www.bluecoatfederation.co.uk/blue-coat-c-e-junior-school/

Compliance Status

Despite the partial exemption for schools, we strive to ensure our website conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards. This means our website aims to be:

  • Perceivable: Information and user interface components are presented in ways that users can perceive.
  • Operable: User interface components and navigation are operable.
  • Understandable: Information and the operation of the user interface are understandable.
  • Robust: Content is robust enough to be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • Zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen
  • Read website text that is written as simply as possible
How Accessible This Website Is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  •  Some colours do not meet contrast requirements
  • Some hyperlinks are only identified by colour
  • · Some PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software

Compliance Status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard, due to the following non-compliances and/or exemptions:

Use of documents: Various documents (PDFs and Word files) are not currently accessible. We are working to improve these by using appropriate heading styles and ensuring colour contrast requirements are met. If you cannot access a document, please contact us and we will provide the information in a different format.

Links identified only by colour: At times, hyperlinks are differentiated only by colour. We are reviewing hyperlink styling to improve accessibility.

What We’re Doing to Improve Accessibility

Primary schools are partially exempt from the accessibility requirements for public sector websites. This exemption does not extend to content that people need in order to use the school’s services (such as Free School Meal application forms). An accessibility statement is still required.

Blue Coat CE Infant and Junior Schools’ Federation believes it is currently meeting the government’s requirements on accessibility, but we aim to continue improving accessibility in the ways referenced above.
